New Car - Wind Noise

Featured Replies

Hi Steb.

Car went to dealer for replacement parcel shelf a few weeks ago. I asked them to look at the wind noise at the same time and was informed that it couldn't be replicated - however, it has now disappeared completely so assuming it was fixed.

Skoda dealer here is great and very helpful; swapped rear fogs over for free as I bought a litre of oil.

Steb - PM sent. Not much snow here yet - just freezing cold.

I have similar issue with my car and at first I was told this wa due to the design. After a couple of months hoping it would sort itsel out the car was taken in and llater I was told that they could not find the cource of the problem but suggested it may have to do with the design of the mirror. I feel that Skoda is eitherunable or reluctant to contac the manufacturer regarding problems with their cars and as a result just fob people off. Is Skoda really part of the VW-Audi group? it sure does not show it. Skoda may use german technology in building their cars but unfortunately not to german standards. Am i expecting too much, as somebody told me the other, from a skoda?

noticed this today, while overtaking

Problem solved took the grill off and put some foam around the edge as in other threads and bobs your uncle.

went upto 140 and no whistle easy.

however have noticed hat in my old VRS if went over 100 the lights auto came on, now in the Blackline they dont. havent looked on any threads just thought i would throw it out there.

Have a Merry Chriatmas all.

there is a known fault with the putty on the windows (at least on my 2.0tdi elegance 140). i had a similar problem trying to find where the noise was coming from and thought it was the door seal. skoda are aware of this issue is what the guy at the dealership said.

Here is a picture of the area of the "fix". Its not the easiest of places to photograph unfortunately. If you open the bonnet and look at the top rear-side of the chrome grill, where it meets the metal of the bonnet then the fix is to stick a strip of foam to fill this gap. Presumably the dealer had to remove the grill to stick this to the rear side of the grill and then re-attach it. The noise was apparently due to airflow being disturbed in the area of this gap between the grill and the bonnet. I've since done 1500 miles and the whistling has not returned, would advise you to just take it to the dealer and let them fix it under warranty, the fix is on their computer system.
