Aircon seems to burn oil?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Last summer my car was burning oil. Over the winter the issue seemed to fix itself and i didnt need to keep adding oil to the car.

Now that we've had a few warmer days i've noticed that the oil has needed topping up (warning light came on).

Can anyone guess what this could be?

Could this be the aircon?

Many thanks

Matt

Oh, and the car is a 57 VRS Diesel with 110k on the clock. (i've had the car for 20k).

Guys anyone able to help me on this? Would really appreciate some info if its possible for the aircon to burn engine oil.

Thanks

The aircon compressor is driven by a belt and has no oil flowing through it.

A certain amount of oil use is to be expected, how much have you needed to add and at how far between topups.

That 2.0 PD does use oil and the aircon will have no effect.Obviously in winter the oil is a bit thicker for longer due to cold temps.
