result! well done (drive it normally when you run it in!)

  • Thats what you should get a new engine, my fabia had one and my mates polo gti had one and a few others i know of has had new engines

  • damn, agree with what you are saying, seems they just dont care :( you can always find another dealer... my last car was a fiat, and it was fantastic! (110k , no real issues) I nearly bought an abar

kopo,

I am surprised you are puting up with being messed about by them.

why not just Request a reply or response from Skoda UK or Skoda senior managment as to why they are happy

for staff to be mis-leading owners or actually allowing employees to down right lie?

Just send this threads link to Skoda Madia and publicity department,

and forward your Emails to them to the Motoring press Editors and journalists..

It states in the handbook, theres definitely something wrong with that car at 8.5 litres

See the bit on oil usage, there can be no question at VAG over some of the vehicles engines they produced.

I've topped my vrs three times x 250ml and it has done about 9500km now.. Can't really say that I'm experiencing any excessive oil usage.

I take it you've one for another fabia?

When i had my second engine in mine, i religiously ran it in and it was using 100ml every 1000miles and after 6000miles hardly any oil so thats my suggestion just be disciplined regarding the running in and it should help the reliability

Yes another fab, managed to change the colour to white. Was pretty religious with the running in with this one !

I believe mid 2011 1.4tsi vrs/gti/cupra engines

In response to your email and confirm our discussions today. Skoda UK have recognised that there is a concern with the oil consumption level on your car. In February we carried out a repair on your car under instruction of Skoda UK where we replaced the piston rings. As you state here and at previous meetings ,we have had you do not believe this repair has been effective. We have communicated your concerns to Skoda UK who have instructed to run the car for a 5000 mile running in period and then carry out a specific oil consumption test. At this time we have not carried out this test as you have not completed 5000 miles since this repair was done.

I acknowledge your concerns but as I stated today I am not in a position to comment on reports on internet forums, nor am I in a position to carry out any repairs not approved and authorised by the Skoda UK who provides the contractual warranty on the car. I strongly refute any claims we are in any way discriminating on your because you did not buy the car from this dealership.

Even If it's not the ridiculous numbers some people with clear technical problem are having, a certain oil consumption between 200 to 500ml / 1000KM is to be expected anyway with the 1.4 TSI. I'm sitting at 400ml/1000 KM currently.

Yes, my old Renault had done 30.000 km with the same oil (!) probably without losing a single drop either, but there is no reasonable comparison that can be made between the two engines...

I refused to have piston rings change as this is not a satisfactory repair to a brand new engine, a new engine is the only way to fix the problem, as if the bores of the engine are scored then new pistons are not going to change anything, so if oil consumption is above that stated in the handbook at any time then the car is not what the customer bought

Very true, i had a 1.2 corsa before i got the fabia never check the oil in 2 years, my parents and sister have all got brand new cars a vw and 2 new toyotas and none of them have used a drop of oil in the time they have been owned so it is clear there is a problem

Well, Specialist Cars did pretend that the oil consumption is an unusual issue, and stated that up to 1 litre per 1000 miles is acceptable.

Anyway, they took the car in to check it over, and get a call today - Skoda UK have approved the work required, whole new engine.

Just need them to redo the rear bumper now, that lost paint when washed (with garden hose!).

Well, went to pick up the car today; new engine in. The windscreen has a big crack, from the bottom upwards.

Specialist Cars denied it was them, but when I pointed out that it was not there before, and that it looked like it could be caused by stress from dropping the engine in harshly they reluctantly agreed to replace it.

I'm worried about what other damage/cut corners become apparent.

I'm not impressed, first & possibly last Skoda I buy - definitely last dealings with John Clark group in Aberdeen.

damn, agree with what you are saying, seems they just dont care :(

you can always find another dealer... my last car was a fiat, and it was fantastic! (110k , no real issues) I nearly bought an abarth to replace it! (180bhp 1.4, circa vRS style ;) ) but alot of that was down to the fantastic service I got from my local fiat dealer (small family owned place in keswick) and generally (nationwide) fiat dealers are some of the worst of any car manufactureer, just not these!

carlisles skoda dealer put me off after my mark I , which is why I ditched skoda for fiat....... because they were terrible, lies , basically... "your console bushes just wore out, no warranty, there is no manufacturing defect.." funny there are now "modified" console bushes to fix the "inadiquate OE part" ....NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE !!! hhhmmmmm

give it a chance, I hope your new engine works out.....

oh, please drive it normally to run it in, dont baby it.... mine is of the engine code with the apparent weak pitson rings / spark plugs ect, but I have no oil usage AT ALL, and no misfires ;)

Good advice on not treating the engine with kid gloves. The first engine was treated very gently for about 2000 miles.

Looking forward, I plan to be practicalabout it, and just use it as a piece of machinery for commuting, then get rid of it while it's under warranty so that I don't end up with huge bills.

Pity, seeing as I had my last car for 8 years, and loved it.

Couldn't agree more, although i miss the fabia, my profile picture says it all about the ownership of a fabia vrs haha

Does anyone know how much oil goes between minimum and maximum level on the oil control rod? Some people told me that it is 1l, but i topped ~200ml and it went from just over minimum to almost maximum on the oil control rod?

Edit: Its the 2010. Fabia 1.2TSI 105hp.

Edited by Uro? TSI

Maybe best to see what the Owners manual shows for your particular engine.

This is the VW Polo Owners Manual, rather than the Fabia one, which might give you some idea.

?Are you checking the level once the oil is up to normal running temperature,

**does your type of engine need the level checked when cold or when hot?**

Best check your engines Total Oil Capacity.

?? is it 3.9 litres??

(the total oil capacity given by VAG for the 1.4 Twin Charger engine is 3.6 litres)

george

Total oil volume is 3.6l for 1.2TSI 105hp. It is to be checked when the engine is warmed up and left for 15 minutes to flow down I suppose. I always check my oil level in these same conditions plus I always park my car on the same parking spot before checking the oil. Last time i topped it up as I said with 200ml approximately, but a friend of mine is convincing me that ALL the motors have 1l of oil between min and max, and that this is instituted by law. The Owner Manual I got with the car does not mention this value that I am searching for.

The table i posted above is from another thread on Oil Change servicing & appears to me to show your engine as requiring 3.9 litres of oil *1.2ltr/77kw TSi*

(maybe i am looking wrong at it.)

I think your friend might be making up his own 'laws' because i have no idea where he gets the idea from for 1 litre of oil between Min & Max. This might be true of some engines.

So many types of engines & dip sticks and engine capacities for that to be correct in all cases.
