Oil Consumption Update

Featured Replies

Thanks George,

Saw the pictures you posted, and doublechecked my Users Manual and it says 3.6l, I can post a photo of it, maybe the engine was revised later, but mine says 3.6l.

It also seems strange to me that min-max level holds amost 30% of total oil volume, it is more likely to me that it is 250-500ml, the logic says this to me, but Im not sure.

Today I will be sure what the exact oil consumption is, because i topped it and restarted the km counter and now it is on 500km which I think is sufficient sample.

result! well done (drive it normally when you run it in!)

  • Thats what you should get a new engine, my fabia had one and my mates polo gti had one and a few others i know of has had new engines

  • damn, agree with what you are saying, seems they just dont care :( you can always find another dealer... my last car was a fiat, and it was fantastic! (110k , no real issues) I nearly bought an abar

So, nobody know volume between min and max on 1.2TSI?

Uros_Tsi mine says 3.6Lt too. We have the same engine. And yes the oil amount between min and max is 1lt. My car consumes ca. 500ml after 6.500 to 7.000Km since last service and then another 200-250 ml until next service at 15.000Km. By the time I write this post has 32.987Km on clock and oil consumption keeps at the same pattern since new. By owner's book and urban legend that says turbo cars conumes a bit oil, it seems to be Ok.

To be honest, after a PUG 106 1.4, an Octavia MK1 1.6 and a Fabia 1.2HTP 12v, who all three of them never consumed oil, having a car that consumes oil annoys me abit and makes a bit nervous and anxious.

George 3.9Lt is stated for cars manufactured later than 2010, but not too sure for this.

I asked and been told by my dealer. Also after 7.000Km as I wrote above consumed 500ml and oil level was right at the middle of area B (hatched). Then I topped up 250 ml and level went up to the top of Area B (Hatched) but not in area A.

So the hatched space on control rod or Area B, holds 500ml of oil, but lower C area to upper A area holds 1 liter of oil, did I understood correctly?

Are these all the same engines?

ie

1.2 TSi (77kw) 2010 on, Engine Code CBZB

Yes you understood right. From lower C to upper A oil volume - capacity is one litre.

Yes George they are. And I think that all VAG oil dipsticks, at least for petrol cars, are indicating - measuring the same amount of oil. But I do not bet my head on this.

I'm not sure if people here can access this site, but I found it interesting reading, although perhaps on a tangent to our issue. To sum up, Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) in Australia makes a supercharged version of the Ford Australia Falcon sedan, and some of the owners are starting to find they are using more oil than they anticipated (ie none, or close to it). Some are using up to 1L per 5000km, which they are unhappy about. It's not as big a drama as 1L for us is, though, as the FPV Falcon apparently has a 9L oil capacity.
