1.4 16v aub Gearbox issues

Featured Replies

Hi,

Having a few issues selecting First gear in this Fabia, it naturally goes into third gear unless you double press the clutch and try a few times then first gear seems to appear

I had this problem six months ago and skoda could not find a fault then when out on a drive with a technician it displayed this fault and a new gearbox was fitted under warranty or so I was told.

The car has been fine for the last six months and then it got harder and harder to find first until now where i am back where i started before the new box was fitted

The car is now out of warranty and Loders Skoda in Yeovil have ceased trading and changed their name to Heritage skoda

Can anyone on this forum shed any light on this, as far as im aware these 1.4 101 bhp fabia's are not overly known for gearbox faults?

Could it be simple cable adjustment or linkages?

If anyone on this skoda forum has any knowledge of these gearboxes i would appreciate it, just to confrim what ive been told on the bmw forums

Cheers

Chris

Im on most bmw forums e30zone e21.net e46 fanatics bmw land etc Ive had 11 bmw's and know them inside out but dont have much knowledge of skoda's

I only bought it because i needed a spare car and it was the cheapest car on skoda.co.uk £2000 from willis motor company (skoda london) with 50k 1 owner fsh etc, its had piston ring etc done under warranty at 92k and now uses no oil and is an ok car to be fair.

I would be extremly grateful if someone with some good mechanical information could give me a heads up on most likely causes I have a haynes manual but from what i can gather from that lupo forum this forum it could be anything from

Cable adjustment, linkages, fly wheel, clutch, pedal box, or gear box if anyone has any ideas of the most likely cause that would be great it has done 100k but has recon engine and supposedly re con gearbox all within last 10k

Cheers

Chris
