vRS Zenith Alloy's - OEM Paint Code?

Featured Replies

Just to add a picture comparison of Audi Silver L1H7 (left) compared to Ford Stardust (right)

The wheels are off an Astra H, and a bit of a test bed for silvers. The Audi Silver is just about the lightest silver out of a rattle can I've found. Much brighter/lighter even than the photos show (taken in the shade at 7pm), the only other colour that comes close is Rover Silver Sparkle MHN.

The important bit to get the paint to match the Silver on the Zeniths is to use a White primer. Then only a very light coat of Silver, just enough to cover the white. This is very important because i've found that more coats tend to make the silver look darker, even using the same spray can etc. there is a huge difference in tint darkness with more or less coats over the white primer.

Great job vrs777, the alloy on the left definitely looks as though it has more of a shine to it!

Yeah the L1H7 Audi Silver reflects light much much better which in turn makes it look much brighter. In Sunlight the colour looks very white/silver much like youe photo's.

Thanks again for the find on this paint code, I've used about 10 different silvers now to try to match that brightness you get from OEM silver sprayed alloys.

Here is another pic from another angle. I'll get some in direct sun when we have some sun!

The Ford Stardust (on right) is actually in more light too, you can just see the sun creeping in on the bottom right of the pic. On its own the Ford Stardust looks a really nice silver and quite bright but when put alongside the L1H7 it looks dull with a grey tinge.
