aircon re-gas

Featured Replies

I’m sure I’ve read somewhere about the importance of using one type of gas over another, when re-gassing the aircon sytem (because of the seals or something?)

Does anybody know about this, and what should be requested/avoided when it needs doing?

What's the typical cost? (And I'm not going to KwikFit... )

cheers

I'd think that you will only get offered R134 as that was what would have been in it from new. That is trying to get phased out but due to patent protection, the new stuff is only manufactured by Honeywell and one other place so it costs about £400 for a car fill - and that will never work.

Cost will depend on what is needing to be done as no proper F-Gas reg'd person will reload a leaking system as its illegal > ££££ then prison.

Could cost as little as £50.

R134a.

rotodiesel.

R134a. rotodiesel.

To be honest, I'd forgotten if it was "a" or "A" - so just stuck with R134.

Anyone fitting the new stuff to new build cars yet - or are they playing safe and face-lifting current models and applying for exemptions with completely new models?
