Boot grab handle

Featured Replies

Just a quick one, the boot grab handle has worked lose, I am guessing some trim was not quite put back together after we had the windows tinted.

Where does it screw in? as while there is a screw holding the trim, it does not appear to hold the grab handle?

Many thanks

The screw you are referring to is holding the boot trim panel in place, this and several plastic clips.

The screw securing the grab handle is covered by the boot panel so this will need to come off first.

Thank you cheers

It does not need to come off 1st it just has not been screwed in enough and is just pulling the tim and not the metal, see this link, 1st pic if you look close you can see a small square plastic washer with the hole it needs to go in , the second pic shows the reverse of the trim and the plastic extrusion that it fits through

That's not how it is reported here.

These guys are pretty sure the tailgate trim has to come off first?

Whether this relates simply to tightening the grab handle or removing it completely isn't clear but it sounds to me as though the screw you are referring to holds the trim in place (in addition to the clips)?

I have done this myself and not tightened the scew fully, the grab pull is like Mike said , taking it off again will not help, the screw just is not located properly

So just to be clear here in response to the OP, the grab handle can be removed without having to first remove the entire boot/trim panel?

Not sure if it's different on the saloon to the estate but I replaced the boot panel on my estate last week as the original had been cut (police conversion). The rubber pull handle mounting sits inbetween the plastic boot panel and the metal mount and so the screw goes through the plastic panel, then the rubber handle and then secures to the boot lid (plastic stretch clip).
