vrs boost issues

Featured Replies

Hi all, just joined this site. have got a bit of a problem wondered if anyone could help? I recently bought a 2002 octavia vrs and am chuffed to nuts with it. only problem i have is that sometimes it boosts to only 0.3 of a bar and feels gutless, if i turn it off and back on however it pulls full boost which is 1.2 bar as is chipped. dont know who remapped the ecu but is running 215bhp. its got 107,000 on the clock with full service history. any ideas?

Misfires?

Nah doesnt misfire just boost drops off without warning and fine once switched off and started again. my mates got a vagcom so gonna have a chat and read the codes out of it. heard that they suffer from this sometimes?

Could be something as simple as a airleak upsetting the engine ecu and putting car in limp mode

sounds like the car's being thrown into limp mode. tons of causes for that. get the codes read

Cheers, will get the codes read and update. also anyone know how to put a pic on my profile?

Sounds daft and i have no idea if my car is mapped but i have a CAI kit and baileys relocated dump valve which is the only modifications i know of to my car and i started running the car on super unleaded, it all started off ok but they after a while of using only esso fuels it seemed like it became gutless to drive and i saw the fuel consumption drop off dramatically, i was convinced there was a boost leak/vac leak or something was failing but i changed back to normal unleaded a week ago and my word what a transformation, everything seems responsive again and the power seems to have come back strong along with my fuel consumption coming back so im not saying its the cure for sure on your car but its worth a try coz its a cheap fix if it does sort the issue.

good luck.

Yeah im running mine on super unleaded as was told it was best and what i used to run in my pulsar when i had it. anyone else had this problem? Thanks for the tip.

Sounds like a classic case of coilpack failure, all then nothing.

Will get the codes read and take it from there, hopefully nothing too expensive!
