Remap - Don't want to kill the clutch

Featured Replies

I've been looking at remaps for my fabia vrs and probably will be getting an Angel Tuning map next month. However I don't want to ruin my clutch. I usually boot it between 2000 and 3000 revs. Will this be fatal to my clutch ? Any idea what I should limit the torque to ?

Over 2K revs is fine mate. Torque should be around 280ft lbs.... Standard is limited to 300

Once you have a rolling road print out with the graph you can see where is safe to boot it :) usually after 2k is fine.

This was my old Angel Tuning map, made nice smooth power and used to go well out on track. 169bhp/270lbft.

My cars nearly at 100k miles now, all on the original clutch and DMF, though running about 200bhp/300lbft now, on a Shark st2 map.

Doing well there SImon

I've been running 218/300 and no issues with my standard clutch and fly, just avoid a map with a big low down torque spike.

Thanks :)

The tuner can set the torque limiters to whatever you want throughout the rpm range. You shouldn't need to moderate it at the pedal end, just make sure the tuner knows your clutch concerns and what torque level to not exceed.

Am I right to believe that the Revo map has a nasty torque spike?

cboyle7 one of the locals :p I had Angle Tunning out last year to do my VRS (stolen but not forgotten) and a Big Thumbs up from me, you notice the power & torque increase BIG time and it will put a BIG smile on your face, Highly recommend them!! also be ready for 3rd gear wheel spinning going up the gear in the wet :p
