Unit18 or Ptorque remap? based in Wolvo

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Cars done 95k, still on original clutch, turbo. Looking for some extra power, but don't want to bosh the clutch or turbo....

Do you reckon its safe to do so? Also which is a better all round remap? I don't really want the mapper to stick a map on with a ridiculously high spike.

Do you reckon 180bhp and 290lb-fts torque is fine?

Cheers

I had min mapped @ unit 18 at 115,000 miles. Asked for a smooth map & that's exactly what I got, nice and progressive, completely changed th? way th? car drove. Alistair noticed the clutch was getting on a bit (original) but it still lasted 10,000 miles before I decided to upgrade.

Never tried any off them tuners but they seem to have a good rep on the web. Do you have other mods on the car? 180bhp generic map seems just a little bit over the top. 175bhp is the norm.

Your turbo should be fine but your clutch could slip in time. My friend has just had a re-map using original clutch that has about the same mileage as yours & her clutch is slipping a bit

I would just try it & buy a new clutch if it goes. There not to expensive.

How much was the remap Matt?

Cheers

I paid £250-£300 iirc (was a couple of years back now)

I've had both a p-torque and a unit 18 map on my fabia Vrs, I initially had he car mapped by p-torque but then due to an unrelated issue replaced the turbo for a hybrid one, then I got a unit 18 map from Ali, from a personal perspective I preferred the drive and delivery of the unit 18 map.

It's just my opinion, I don't have a bad word to say about either map, but I preferred top end pull from the unit 18 map, this may have been because of the extra power the turbo could handle

Had all my tuning done by Will a P-Torque and couldnt be happier. Give him a call. Great bloke and maps the car to protect components

Haven't used unit 18 but all the reviews on here a good but I can defiantly recommend P-Torque.

Unit18 ;)

Unit 18 are good. I have one of their maps amongst other things and it is spot on :-)
