1.Santa Pod does NOT allow passengers. i've been there enough times and seen people having to get out of the car.

2. unless you can pretty much gauge it so you race a mate then your up against what ever lines up next to you.

3. standard clutch should be fine as long as you dont go mental with it.

to confirm

1. Is a front seat passenger allowed? NO!!

2. Can you choose what car you race or is it random? Random but you can try and line up with a mate or someone of your choice

3. Is it really worth taking the octavia down there with a standard clutch? Yes why not just take it easy, remember you have to drive it home afterwards!

whats the point in ragging your car up a 1/4 mile at pod? Much better to take it round a track!

It's cheaper, it's easier, there is less chance of you crashing in to someone, you can get a print out of your times at the end of it, racing against someone else is not frowned upon.

If anyone see's a Silver CTR with CPL stickers all over it, leave it alown it runs 12 secs and is a beast. More to come too :D

What sort of RPM are you guys launching at in the Furbys?

I managed a 14.7 nearing 100mph out of my auto Volvo T5 when i went last. I have to agree though' date=' [b']1/4 mile's are a bit of a waste of time really, they put massive stress on the car,[/b] and is quite boring if you are running, as you end up sat in your car for the whole time hoping that your next run will be a touch quicker !?!? Strangely enough on the 3 occasions i ran my volvo, my first run was the fastest !?!?

But good effort gettin 16.?? that is amazing considering how many times you had to change gear - lol

funny you shoudl say that coz you wouldnt thikn twice about Racing away from a round-a-bout or traffice lights on a 'normal' road...up to 70mph whats the diffrence to doing it on specially designed track where its safer...?

track days cost twice three times as much and do alot more damage to the car...as the car is being thrashed for prelonged periods of time...where on the 1/4 its only seconds and also on the track its not just the engine but suspensions and brakes take a totaly pounding as well on the strip they are not touched...

but they are alot more fun! Wouldn't take my octy on one, hence the reason for looking for another car for track days.

true they are more fun you learn more about your car on one, but going down the srtrip and give you an idear of how quick your car is off the line :D

I would rather take mine down the strip than on a track day. I find it quite exciting waiting for teh lights to go and i can give it full blast without worrying about things like corners etc :D . I'd rather the clutch go than stuffin it into something (which i probably would)

  • 2 months later...

My Standard Fabia vRS ran a best time of 16.24 at the weekend at the Summer Nationals at Santa Pod (my girlfriend is in the VWDRC)

But that was with a full tank of fuel... and she backed off at the top end to avoid 'breaking out' (it's ET racing not heads up) unfortunately, she broke out anyway.... but I reckon it could be gotten into the 15's with a following wind! :)
