Wonder why I have Boost lose

Featured Replies

Hi

I had my car stage 2 mapped last week. After 1 week off nipping about streets & motorways testing my pride & joy I have now noticed boost lose.

Maybe I am getting used to the power/boost & the car IS still the same as the day it was stage 2 mapped. Something I had to work out for my self.

Is there any other reason why I would have what seems like boost lose?

It is the top end off the boost that seems lost & especially in 3rd http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/191/imag0102wb.jpg/

I have just cleaned the EGR,MAF & MAP sensor & it seems a little better but stil not as goos as it should be

I do use BP normal diesel but I have always used it & I did so on map day. Bad batch maybe?

Thanks for any advice.

Boost leaking out of a hose somewhere?

  • Author

No leaks. I had a leak once, wow it was loud

it will only be a loud hissing if its a big hole. can still give the same symptoms with a little hole just without the noise.

get someone with vag-com to come for a drive with you and log the boost they will be able to tell straight away weather its losing boost or not

or you can take it to a garage and let them perform a smoke test on the inlet system and boost pipes this will show any little leaks that you have in the system easily

That is very useful info, thx. Now that you mention hissing, there is a hissing ever since it was DeCat-ed. I thought that noise was normal after De-Cat & some run diesels with mufflerectomy with no boost lose so I assumed exhaust problems would not affect boost too much.

My hissing noise is mostly noticeable on tick over.
