Passanger side auto dimming mirror goes brown:(

Featured Replies

Hi All,

recently I've noticed that my passanger side mirror goes brown.

It's not spread evenly... it's more brownish at the bottom of the mirror.

It doesnt go away and I am not sure if its going to get wors:(

Mirror is auto dimming, same as inside one.

Anybody had the same issue?

Is there any DIY easy fix?

Thanks,

Frane

You learn something new everyday, I didn't even realise you could get auto dimming wing mirrors on the Octavia!

The brown colour you refer to sounds like the common de-lamination of the mirror glass. This is caused by the heating elements and is why you should remember to turn off the heated mirrors when they aren't required.

Fitted as standard to the L&K I believe.

Yes, the no no is that only the drivers side comes with this.

Maybe getting one, drivers side, from the UK I can put it on my passengers side, hummm!!!

Well, I've always left the side mirrors in the heated position (2006 L&K) and they're still as new - no degradation whatsoever. Maybe they're like the rear screen demister - turn off after 15-20 minutes?

Im with siver on this one, never heard of it. So why cant we get heated screens on the front then.

On my 55 Plate L&K (2006) both wing mirrors are auto-dimming

Option on the vRS here in Ireland.

Electric/Heated/autodimming/folding.
