Fabia Toolkit - What's In It?

Featured Replies

This may sound like a strange question, but what's in a standard Fabia toolkit?

Just as an example, the Octavia (Elegance) has: spare wheel; jack; wheelbrace; double-ended screwdriver; spanner; tweezer-type thingie for removing the wheel nut covers; key-type thingie for the locking wheel nuts.

The resaon I'm asking is that a colleague of mine has just bought a brand-new Fabia, and wants to know what tools he should be carrying in the car. He's in our London office, so I can't just take a look at what's in the car and work from there.

It's a bit more complicated, because this is the first car he's actually owned - I get the impression that he's never had to think about looking after a car before, even though he has driven quite a lot. I also get the impresssion that he's not a natural mechanic.

It's good that he's thinking about this now - instead of waiting for something to go wrong - so I want to give him some good advice, but I need to know where to start.

BTW, my "extra" toolkit consists of:-

  • A spider - because the stock wheelbrace isn't a lot of use unless you can ask the Hulk for a hand.
  • A tyre pump ('coz checking the spare is a PITA)
  • A tyre pressure gauge (cheapo digital one - easier to read under roadside wheel-changing conditions than a "pencil" one).
  • Dayglo/reflective jacket (safety, plus a bit of extra clothing/waterproofing in the bad weather)
  • Several pairs of dispoasble gloves.
  • Warning triangle
  • Spare bulb/fuse kit. TBH, it's spares accumulated over the years. Guaranteed NOT to have a spare for the bulb that's blown.

Ahoj,

A fabia toolkit is much the same as you've described.

Only the bits of metal you described are if you have alloys, normally you get a bent bit of wire to remove the plastic wheel facia thing (what are they called again) er trims maybe...

The "extras" which I carry, are...

Tow rope

Warning triangle

First aid kit

Tyre preasure gauge

Tyre tread depth measure thing

Jump leads

A tourch

A spider for much the same reason as you

Ive stopped carrying bulbs because I havent brought any spare ones yet - must get round to that some day

And on very, very long journeys I have been known to pack a sleeping bag...

Wheel nut caps perhaps?

on the latest fabia's they have made some production changes which include only one remote key, no red warning lights on bottom of doors and a few tools are missing (but i would have to get back to you on that one) my tools i usually carry are a tool chest (and roll cab) with **** loads of tools in it.lol

It seems skoda have made quite a few "cut backs" since the Fabia was originally launched.
