Suspension upgrade... Which one?

Featured Replies

Hi all. My spring has broke on the front and the front shock has play in it. It's due to go to the garage for an Mot and thought I'd upgrade the suspension whilst it's in bein fixed/MOT'd. Trouble is, I need to order the new parts for the garage to fit. I know what look/ride I want but don't know where to buy it or the best make. I'm looking to lower it but not so that I can't go over speed bumps and looking to not have a back breaking ride. I'd be looking at getting a full suspension kit.....help?!?!

all depends on your budget. I run ap coilovers and the ride is great pretty close to standard and the beauty of coilovers is you can run at any height you like, But ap's will set you back £400 plus.

Simplest is £80-£150 for springs. Though you can get coillies for £150-£200, they qon't be the best.

OTOH if your car has lots of miles on it, the standard ones won't be either.

I'd have thought fitting of either should be a similar price.

The mileage is about 83000 and it's an 05 plate. Thinking budget all in about £500 max for everything. Any suggestions on make? Ta :-)

Do you know if the console bushes, drop links, ARB bushes and ball joints have been replaced? If not you may want to look at doing those as well but that can easily add another £150 to you budget - but well worth doing.

Best advice I can give is find a group buy for something reasonable and find a cheap but reliable local mechanic.
