part price please

Featured Replies

Hi,

had a really bad bit of luck tonight, found a really big unlit pothole, car went down it and launched out of other side, but it caught sump on the way.

I have a hole which is losing oil rapidly. Can someone with access to VAG parts, please give me an idea of price for a sump assembly please.

Luckily got car home just in time.

Many thanks ,

a very p****d off Phil

Thank you so much.

It's in times like this, that the help really rises to the top on here.

Cheers

Phil

Take photo of pot hole and claim your council for damage to the sump why should you pay for them not fixing the pot hole

I know what you mean, but it was a road that I do not normally drive on and to be honest, once I saw the oil dripping, I just wanted to do the 2 miles home before the oil ran too low.

Good luck getting part and fitting it heard some guy put a gasket on the sump instead of the silcon if you get chance try get a photo and claim

That's the main reason I'm peeved really, because due to an accident a few years ago, I can't do the really under the car stuff, and I REALLY hate trusting my car to other people.

But, no choice this time, will see what my local repairer will charge to drag it in and fit it.

Thanks everybody for the help and support, feeling a bit sorry for myself at the moment - will be better in the morning.

Phil

Really bad luck buddy. Don't forget to renew oil pickup when you do the sump.

Cheers mate,

I am going to sort it in the morning, I was already going to ask about the pickup pipe, but thanks for reminding me anyway.

Just be careful if you go via Bean to Bluewater, the hole is like a bl**dy crater. :swear::wall:

Phil.

where the hell in bean in is, been there today and i didnt see one?

pm me phil, if you havent booked the sump in elsewhere...

flippin iphones lol

i meant 'where the hell in bean is it??'

Thanks very much for the offer Luca, but my son has sorted it with a friend of his in the trade who is coming to me to fit it for me.

I cannot say enough thankyou's for all the help offers and information on this.

Hopefully we move on from this and all is good.

Pothole is between Betsham and Bean on the lane that leads eventually to Longfield, - don't know the road name as have only used it once before - just my luck.

Back on the road again :rofl: ,

Got sump done, and changed pipe but did it really while it was down as when we compared it to the new one there was not a lot of difference - no blockage or debris at all. Car has 95k miles on the clock and according to records has been run on longlife 3 at all services. Just added that so it can be added to the great debate on these pipes, it may be down to oil quality that causes these blockages, although I read Bowders thread and he ran on good oil so go figure.

1 quick question if I may, can I reset the service indicator without VAGCOM, as I am now on new oil and filter 5k miles before it is due if you see my point, so can I reset the service mileage back to 0 again?. According to the service history, it was set on fixed.

Once again many thanks for the input, and it feels good to be back on the road.

Phil.

Ok, have searched the forum for service indicator threads, and they all point to the procedure I found in the handbook this afternoon. The problem is, if I am reading it correctly, the procedure is for resetting the indicator once it has illuminated, whereas I want to reset it before it has come on. Is the procedure the same for both?.

If you are heading to Prept next week I can reset it there for you? Or can meet up next week and do it if you are about.

Same procedure, I did it on mine. Last service was 9k ago and it has just started telling me there is less than 1k until the next service is due.

To be honest, I'm now looking for some kind of sump guard, as when you look at how low it sits in the car, and how serious it is when you catch it, then I dont fancy the risk any more. I don't think it needs to be a motorsport one, just good enough to fend of the normal combat from speed bumps etc. I was toying with the idea of lowering the car, but now I'm not so sure with the roads as they are at the moment.

Thanks Rob for the offer, I need to see what the family has me roped into next week. I'm fairly certain that I won't be at Prept, even though I want to go, as my daughter is dancing in Rainham again :@ . I'll have to come back to you on that if you don't mind thanks.

Thanks to everybody for the input, all in the memory banks for later :) .

no probs Phil, glad its sorted.

I think dieselgeek do vag guards. Prob is, most sit even lower than the sump is now, increasing your chance of catching.

How about a low profile sump, they seem a good idea.

thanks Clive:>
