Dual Mass Flywheel Question

Featured Replies

Ah now that I dont know. May have just been the brakes.

I'd strongly suggest that you get a garage to bleed the clutch system, before doing anything more expensive.

If you're unsure of the fluid used last time, it might be worth putting up £10 to go and get some genuine VAG brake fluid (that's about the price for 2L) and have the whole system run through again.

The VAG fluid is DOT4, but with a lower viscosity in cold temperatures.

Do let us know how you get on.

I would let Meadens look at it they are a great dealer. They are also my dealer and converted mine to SMF under warranty at 35K without any trouble at all but mine is a diesel though and there is no OEM SMF for the 2.0 petrol and as you state there is only the Sachs which is megabucks :(

Hope you get it sorted.

I agree they are very good.

I had them change out far too many DMFs under warranty.

It's funny, I used to get a very different reaction from a certain dealer on a certain island, depending on whether the car had a HW plate or something else.

What happened? The "certain dealer from a certain Island" of which you speak is my local dealers. Last year when I had a MK1 VRS I had some problems getting them to do the coil pack recall for me. (Skoda UK helped me out)

The certain dealer, from a certain island who could sell any brand of car at all.

Basically a friends father had a car, which was nearing 3 years old and wanted to change it for a new one with new warranty.

At the certain dealer, it was basically full RRP, poor trade in and not the best attitude, offering a nearly new for about 1500 off new RRP.

Being me, I went and spoke to a mainland dealer, perhaps giving out H* plates (which didn't include HW).

The car got changed for a new one of exactly the same spec and model, including them transferring the leather seats etc over, a few options all for around £2k total cost.

After that is was alleged that the dealer seemed to make life hard if they wanted a service (was easier to take a day over to the mainland and go shopping). There was never a courtesy car around, but if you called up minutes later with an HW plated car there was.

Now of course this could be nothing other than paranoia and is obviously purely speculation, however it didn't give a great impression to the owner.

Now obviously dealers make a little bit of extra effort if you've purchased it from them, and that's understandable, but most know where they make the money is servicing.
