Nope it's gone (for now), as has the 1.2 TSi and 110PS 2.0 TDi. Also unavailable to order is the 4x4 and Scout.

These engines/models have been dropped in preparation for the new Octavia MkIII.

Wonder will the Octavia Mk III get a 1.8 tsi engine. Or is the UK...........like Ireland going more and more towards diesel engines and only having primarily small petrol engines

Didn't even know you could order a 110ps 2.0TDI engine...

My first post here after ordering a new Octavia Hatch 1.8 tsi with DSG L&K edition after much deliberation on 31st March just as the VAT free offer ended.

My basic prerequisite was to get a car to fit my garage which means less than 15 feet 3 inches. My current Audi A4 version phased out in 2007 did so but they lengthened the car in 2008 and the new Audi A4 fails the test.

I specced the Octavia equipped as L&K against a number of cars including the new F30 BMW320i. £19,700 plays £32,500 for roughly the same specification. OK the BMW has the kudos but £13,000 is a lot to pay for kudos so I opted for the Octavia.

On hearing the news in this excellent forum that there had been some paring of the specifications on offer, I phoned the Skoda Dealer in Newcastle(upon Tyne). Yes he agreed that there had been some pruning of the combinations of Octavia on offer but assured me that my order was safe as it had been accepted before the cutoff started. He also gave me a factory build date of early July (week 28) with the prospect of delivery in late July (this year!). This is later than I had been initially advised but after reading contributor's posts I had never been confident of the early promise of 12 week delivery.

There it is. For whatever reason, Skoda have narrowed the choice of Octavia options including the 1.8 tsi engine but all of us waiting should be confident of getting their car as ordered.

I have been very impressed with the level of self help on this forum with the only occasional lapses into bigotry and intolerance. Cetainly if my first skoda lives up to the constructiveness of contributors, I will have no reason to regret my purchase.
