Is an uprated DV worth the money?

Featured Replies

I am booked in for a remap on the 25th at Jabba but am also thinking about an uprated dump valve. Would be interested to know whether you think the performance benefits are worth another

only if you existing DV is faulty. maybe some bennefit. im sure someone will advise.

if ur DV is fine just now i would probably save the

There's a useful summary in this technical guide. What it boils down to is that you won't see much (if any) performance improvement, but the aftermarket DVs are worth the extra money because they are much more reliable than the factory-fitted plastic one (and they are nice and shiny, and go "ptsshhh" a bit louder ;) ).

jabba will recommend you change your DV for two reasons A: you will be able to achive high boost pressure due to the increased strength of the DV and B: the standard one is pap...

ive just got the hyperboost DV from Awsome GTI no diffrence in sound at all if anything is quieter then standard....the DV30 makes more noise a notcible pppssshhhttt... stay clear of dump to atmosphere DV's these for a strat will not performe well with a remap...

i was told that my DV would need replacing if i ever got the car remapped recently... seems odd that the tester thought i'd got a dump to atmosphere valve on and not the Bailey recirc valve that Jabba sell... maybe the extra noise the valve makes with the induction kit (also from Jabba) threw him somehow...

anyway... to answer the Q... an aftermarket valve will offer better reliability than the standard valve and will hold more boost better. Think of it as preventative maintenance.

As Nigel says.

However diaphragm...no s******ing at the back there ;)..... type dv reactive quicker so you may want to consider the new Optimus from Forge, which uses a strong diaphragm material.

Carbonino will sort that! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

IMHO they're definitely not worth it - but I bought one for the noise and I don't regret it!

What's the absolute loudest DV then? I'm planning mods for when my warranty expires...in 17 months :o ...

My bailey dv26 is very loud (but not good for remaps apparently) people at bus stops look round for the bus if you time it right.

Joel had this fitted to his car, and has now replaced it. His car runs alot better now!

I have replaced it but doing that was priceless, i used to 'dump' (not like that  ) next to people on pavements when ever i could...it was so funny watching them jump

How do you fit a DV? Would it be possible to fit and then when the car needs to go in remove it to the standard one? I have to do this on my current car as they said it would void my warrenty by putting on an induction kit, so every time it goes in I just swap them over.

Richard.

depends what car you have... on the octy vRS its an easy 5 minute job to swap the valve over as there is no cutting of hoses to do. the after market valve simply fits into the hoses the OE one leaves behind.

I had to cut the original hose clips off - the job still only took 15 minutes.

They will be able to tell...skoda uses non-reusable clips so if you repalce these with Jubliee clips or shiny new ones they will know something is not right... thats if they even look under the engine cover...

would changing the DV would this really effect your warrenty?

If Skoda wanted it to I suspect !

:yeahdude: that's what I'm talking about

What's the deal with remaps - surely if it goes for it's remap sneezing like...erm...something that sneezes a lot :o then it shouldn't make a difference (though I guess switching back to a standard DV would). BTW if it's not already apparent, I haven't got the slightest bit of mechanical sympathy

the problems arises when you have a rempa due to the increases in boost and the atmos valve not being able to hold the boost like the recirc.

thats what i thought anyway.... i might be wrong.

I believe the CEL light comes if you remap and have a BOV.

With regards to the clips...if you standard DV fails does Skoda replace clips or use whats there already when fitting the new one?

The top connector you can get away with reusing the original clips but you'll more than likely have to the change the other 2 for jubilees.
