Hi All

I have been reading the site for sometime (well a week) and have decide on the following mods for my car which is a Fabia VRS.

1. Green filter

2. Cupra intake pipe

3. Revo tune with SPS switch

4. Eibach springs

These seem the best all round mods bearing in mind that I want to keep my warranty in check and the tune can be reverted for services:>.

I was looking at a Jabba tune but there figures and evidence to support these seem a little optimistic (I hope no one takes offence) - but Revo can guarantee 180BHP and 3001bft, I also looked at tuning boxes but they seem a little iffy with dragon and tunit doing the best ones but they only modify the fuelling which again from speaking to tuning specialists can lead to problems later on.

On the springs Im hoping that they will give me a firmer ride and at the same time keep some of the cars existing comfort, if anyone has just changed the speings Im all ears.

Like here? Those aren't the figures you quote nor is there any mention of guaranteed performance gains. :confused:

PS. Jabba don't guarantee performance gains either.

I Know what you mean about the official website for Revo quoting 170BHP and 290lbft - But my local Revo house has near enough promised 180BHP as has already done a number of VRS to the same effect.

I guess the Dyno will tell all!

thing is the maps come from revo iirc so they are all the same (if same engine numbers) so if revo say 170 how can they say 180 odd

Did they say what problems this could lead to? My understanding is that a remap also alters the fuelling (to the same level as a tuning box!) and the only difference is the remap can also allow more boost. Being cynical, I'd say they just told you that so you bought a remap

A couple more mods you may want to consider are strut brace, eibach dampers and 312mm brakes, which will significantly improve the handling and stopping power of the car. I've been out in a car on just Eibach springs and it didn't feel as stable as mine with springs and dampers

Yes it will invalidate your warranty but as with most ECU updates you can't tell by looking along.

By 'looks' I meant look at the ECU electronically.

The bhp figure is irrelivent, whichever remap/tuning box you get you'll have a smile on your face and thats the most important, the main difference between some of the tuning companies is in the way the power is delivered...

I've just changed the springs (+ strut brace) on my vRS, and I think it has made quite a difference. Much of the body roll has gone or at least been tamed and so has diving under braking. Still comfortable on motorways and over the odd pot hole. As I had bought a budget, warmish hatch I didn't want to spend the extra

Like any reputable firm they base figures on worst case scenarios hence the official website figures, reputable businesses tend to do that, the other guarantee being that they have researched the product fully before releasing onto the market place and are worldwide. Is Jabba??

Im not taking anything away from custom maps but on the basis of facts the large tuners ie AMD, REVO etc are likely to give you a more reliable product with guys who are specialists in the development of such products who try and test there products.

There are alot of custom tuners whom alter just a few parameters and do get 195BHP, the thing is at what cost? REVO alter 35 maps (settings) instead of 3, I personally would like to have reassurance and reliability.

A little harsh m'thinks, I think you'll find quite a few people Octavia vRS's and other members on Seatcupra would vouch for Jabba, as would I. 7k miles since I had it done, and the clutch has never slipped , however some people have done +100k with a Jabba map (no Fabia vRS as yet to my knowledge however).

they are different products for different people. acustom map is always better than an off the shelf product due to the fact only they can take into account other mods and driving styles and any custom requests. an off the shelf remap is ideal for someone who wants something cheaper due to the fact they basically only have to do things once, one map for all cars that way they get the money back faster. the fact is you pays your money its that simple.

the ultimate method is full stand alone managment like gems etc.

if you replaced the turbo what would you do to the ecu then? run a revo map ? nope you couldnt as it wouldnt run propperly on the new turbo only solutions then is custom map or standalone

I did actually chat to them earlier this evening, they were very helpful and I am tempted as they offer alot of power - 195BHP for not that much money, comparitively speaking. BUT I am worried about the fact the only modify a few settings as compared to REVO who alter 35. Im not a tuner and not really mechanically minded but I just want to make the right decision.

Also the REVO is switchable which I quite like, but now Im really confused as Im tempted to go for the more power - BUT something tells me about the old saying "you get what you pay for". :confused:

You dont have a custom map on your car by any chance do you

nope its standard but one of my best mates is an engine designer for toyota in brussles and another mate is an engine builder head work specialist etc

Hell fire, Like the sound of your car. What does it go like in terms of on road performance??

Any gripes with the tune ie flat spots or all mid range and no top, pros or cons??
