Tsi vrs with DSG fuel consumption, what to expect?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, picked up my 2010 octy vrs tsi with DSG a week ago now, enjoying the car but I am disappointed with the mpg.

On a long run, M1 for 120 miles and then about 10 miles of A roads and 2 miles of 30 mph, I am getting 36.4 that is driving at the speed limit in D

When just driving in town in D, moderate traffic I struggle to get 25 mpg

Cheers

Ron

I can easily get 40mpg sticking at 70mph in D. Mine is mapped with APR

Round town I'm getting around the 25mpg mark again in D.

Have you logged the AFR to see what it is doing?

Like vRS Carl I can get quite a lot more than 40mpg at the national speed limit. Shorter trips pull it down, I think around town 25 mpg might be a little low but depends very much on how one drives - not a long way off what I get I suspect. On your long run I would probably get 42-44 mpg indicated.

Apart from the engine you could look at tyre pressure and alignment as possible causes of drag?

Mine's not DSG but I average 30mpg which is a mixture of the occasional long journey, my daily commute of 8 miles each way to work, and shorter journeys of the odd mile or so.

I managed 38mpg on he way back to Newcastle from Blackpool this week taking it steady at 75mph where the roads permitted.

Between 28 and 33 for me. Commute is 34miles each way on motoways but mostly clogged with traffic.

Tootling through the peak district today with the kids in the back... 43 on the trip comp (about 38 actual)

Hmmm, looks like I'm not miles off but maybe upto 5mpg down. The car has had 4 wheel alignment last week and I checked tyres today, all fine. It is due a DSG gearbox oil change right now but I can't see that being the culprit.

Can is getting a re-map shortly so will get it checked on the dyno

Cheers

Ron
