GAVIN.

WOW at the price :( I keep forgetting how much they cost in ROI! A few Irish members have travelled to NI or GB to buy a VRS cheaper newer with lower miles then bring it back and do the VRT payment might be worth looking into if you have not already. For example if I sold my 2011 VRS CR TDi with less than 10000km on it I would prob be getting the same sort of price as you would pay for that one. VRT on the VRS TDI's would be 20% of OMSP (Open Market Selling Price) based on its CO2 levels.

That said the 2.0 PD TDi has as all on here are aware some wee (can be large) issues. The DPF can give problems from what i gather just from clogging up from lack of longer runs in them the general opinion is that you need to do regular longer trips to clear it out or give it a little thrashing every so often. There was also a recall on a lot of them with injectors following the recall work FOC (in UK anyway I assume EU wide) a worrying number of owners on here have reported engine oil level rising from diesel getting in. The history of the vehicle would show if this work has been done and how long ago and at what km's it would be worth checking the oil and smelling it too anything out of the ordinary I personally would run a mile or 1.6km. A lot of the little issues seem to have been resolved in the CR TDi I would seriously try your luck in UK and see whats about must be cheaper even with VRT for same car spec and bring it back over.

These 2 are in NI at a main dealers both lower miles both CR TDi's one pre FL one FL look the business! They are more expensive as they are about same price but before VRT :( Because of the stupid OMSP that is calculated they are not that much cheaper but gives you a lot more choice in finding the right one for you.

This one is more or less the same as you are looking at but its Black and a lot less miles works out €4000 ish cheaper in NI that would surly cover the VRT plus you can always haggle a fair chunk off price.

Hi

Where abouts are ya from?

If i were you i would look for a CR or at least get some sort of warranty off Sinnots, just in case and make sure the injectors etc. have been done on the recall if needed.

Dallan

edit: be carefull also with imports at irish sellers, having a look on carzone and there are a few uk imports, irish vrs's have maxidot as standard as well as some other items, but thats the one thats easiest to spot

Also on the new ones you dont get the 18" neptunes just the old 17" Zeniths :p (although I do like 18" Zeniths more as I have said many many times) I have Maxidot :D

I have Maxidot :D

Because you bought the option :p

Hi gavin, u won't regret the Vrs there a great car and I love the pd Vrs very fast and great punch of the engine, I have a 2007 Vrs tdi and love it, have it since jan, don't be put off by the dpf as I know lots of lads with no problems, also the injectors are free on recall and also anyone that got them done in Ireland don't seem to be having any after effects.

Also watch out for the watered down uk spec models for sale here in Ireland as the proper Irish spec cars have a way better spec!

Where are u from I'm in Galway?

15k for an 08 seems a bit on the high side,

Skoda dealer in Galway has a nice race blue 08 for 14k and it's the best colour too :) personally don't like silver tho.
