Any one fitted remote central locking to an older model?

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls I have recently become a fabia owner and my comfort model has central locking but not remote central locking, so i bought a kit:

and being naive i thought it would be easy to fit by the look of the picture...

Not so as the case may be the instructions are minimal but if you know what your doing (which I don't) they probably make sense, if any one knows how to decipher wiring diagrams I'd be appreciative of a hand.

I'll post a scan of the instruction if any one reply's offering ANY help.

Can't really help ,having looked at the Haynes wiring. But mine has no central locking, and I've been looking at fitting a central locking kit with a remote control. On my kit, I'd have to provide a an earth pulse, from the radio reciever to either of two motor wires on the front doors to lock/unlock .But on the fitted system there's sixc wires to the motor units. I'd think that if you can find the wire on a front unit sending pulses to the other doors , you could fit a diode( to prevent remote pulses damaging the CCU) in the loom, and add a pulse wire on the motor side .

So , first ,you'd have to identify the line accepting signals from the control unit, and then work out if it's an earth or positive feed pulse system( first for lock side ,then for unlock side) .

THB, more I think of it -more it seems like a job for TT's set of drawings.

Cool PD, the central locking video is pretty sweet but the car all ready has the motors I just need guidance on how to go about wiring the kit up.

VWD I will i need to get my hands on a multi-meter to find these pulse wires or is it some thing I could possibly google?

and here is the diagram

When i did mine mate was pretty straight forward after deciphering the wire diagrams!! I have a comfort model as well, but i used a Hawk remote kit instead - probably the same sort of thing though.

2 x wires to indicators

1 x wire to live feed

1 x earth

2 x wire to central locking wire in door.

Rest of the wires are not relevant

to complicate matters more i had to solder in a 180ohm resistor to the two unlock/lock wires before connecting this combined wire to the wire in the door.

check out some other threads on here mate, gave me invaluable advice about wire colours etc.

good luck!

hmm, this looks like a worthwhile upgrade. might just treat my fabia to one of these. her birthday is coming up anyway.

Did the other half's Polo with a RightClick kit. Def need the resistor, as lock and unlock is to the same wire, so it needs to know the difference. I chickened out and paid £40 to get it fitted by a car audio place that I've known for donkey's though, so can't be much help. You'll also need to hack out the transponder if replacing the whole key. The Rclick one is a rip-off of the VAG flip key, which is what attracted me. Dunno about the one you have.

Cool having a really good look at the kit I can possibly do it with some chock block, 180ohm resister and a loom diagram if i can get my hands on one.

Also I have the good old rip off not quite VAG flip key, but I can get a flippy key made up at the key cutters in town.

I gave in and forked out for the good old haynes manual for wiring diagrams, and I called up my old man for moral support while I attempt to do it.

I'll post a quick set of pics as I go along as to which wires to look for when people do some thing similar them selves.

tricey777 - you might PM Teflon TOM for some info on the wiring and whether it's an earth or voltage pulse to trigger the five wire motors.

Hello tricey777! Have you solve your problem with connecting universal remote control kit to your Fabia? A bought the same kit as you and I have almost the same problem. I don't know how to connect this kit to central locking unit. I have connected indicators and they work. But I don't know how to connect to central locking unit.

Thank you for your help!

Try the attached guide, it's for a similar unit so should be more or less the same.
