Suspension creeking more than my bed!

PMSL!!!

basically if the car goes up and down like over a speedhump or pulling away at a junction then the front end will creek really really loud.

Any ideas what to look at? its just passed an mot with no advisorys

Anti roll bar bushes me thinks !

Front anti-roll bar bush sleeves are probably slipping, due to corrosion getting between them and the bar.

Quick way to confirm it is to go buy a spray can of lithium grease. Get on your back and reach under the car, behind the front wheels, to locate the ARB bushes (you can see them if you look down the back of the engine from above too). Give both sides a good squirt with grease, and the noise should go for a few days. That confirms that it's the bushes or bush sleeves.

Earlier cars had bushes with a 19mm ID, and plastic sleeves around the steel bar. Later cars have bushes with a 17mm ID, and no plastic sleeve. Both earlier and later cars have roll bars with a 19mm OD.

So if you find the plastic sleeves, you have the option of removing the sleeve (slides/cracks off) and fitting the smaller/later bush. If you don't find a sleeve, then just replace again with the smaller/later bush.

Please note that I'm talking about standard Skoda bushes only. I couldn't say what size you'd want if you fitted polybushes.

The part numbers for the standard Skoda bushes mentioned above are in the part number sticky thread.

Hope that helps. The loud creaking is funny but also kinda embarrassing if there are lots of people about!

ahhh il take a look. hope not cos i replaced the arb links, bushes and track rod ends in Dec just gone. il get on my back and give a well aimed squirt (teehee) and see if they are faulty, with that and my rattling baffles on the back box the car sounds like a right banger lmao

I have the same noises as well. Last week i change everything from the front end except the arb bushes and arb droplinks. And i also have new weitec hicon gt's and top mounts. So definitely, that's where the noise is coming.

I want to upgrade to a R32 FARB. Do i have to buy R32 bushes and droplinks or what?

Mines doing the same, but at the back.... slowing down, speed ramps etc! :wall:

I had anti-rollbar bushes replaced and initially the garage used third party ones. They creaked like hell so I had them replace them with genuine parts (which they did for free). Apparently the cheap ones lacked some sort of hair-like material inside (I haven't seen them so can only echo their words).

I've had them all mate tbh, what ever goes on as lube gets washed off and starting creaking with days lol

can these be easily changed with the car on the ground - i know how to do it, just wondering if the bar will move once ONE of the arb clamps is released? Can it be done one side at a time this way without jacking up etc ( I know about the long bolt trick etc)

anyone.... ?

well got it looked at and yep my few month old links are knackered, they still have grease on them so im going to send them back.

Thanks all :)

STSKODA, you can change the ARB bushes on the ground as long as you remove both wheels so the bar isn't under tension.
