As my Octavia is 4 years old it "needs" its cambelt changing. Skoda have an offer on at the moment to do this or £299 - is that a good price?

Good price, don't forget the water pump at the same time Will, an extra £50 I think but well worth the change and If its all done by Skoda it's a Two year Guarantee

Good dealer price if it includes belt, tensioners, pulleys, water pump and coolant change.

That is a cheap price, our normal price with the water pump on the 2.0TFSI all inclusive is £350

Thanks for all the replies, really useful information

Pretty decent I'd say. I was £320 for both at an indy.

Thats the price i was giving from the skoda dealership in dunfermline when i phoned up about the price for the cars 4th year service. when i mentioned about changing the water pump the girl told me they dont need it and dont change them when doing belts.

Not the same car but on the wifes Fabia VRS I was quoted £390 at an indy, and £382 at the dealer - both included a water pump. Hell, even Awesome wanted £340 I think but that's a drive from Leeds to Manchester and back, and they now charge for courtesy cars thus the overall cost was gonna be higher.

Went with the dealer in the end.

On the other hand, called them up today to ask about a new N/S rear caliper for the same car. £146 for the part and £149 fitting......ha ha ha ha ha. I think not.....
