Hello and VRS PD or CR?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I think i need another vrs in my life, just sold the 3 series I didn't gel with, and have a need for an estate (7 month old daughter and her stuff) my wife has got 2.0pd sport Octavia, which is remapped to 180bhp,and I'm torn between a PDin the right spec and colour with 55k on for£9800 (and it's 9miles away and been looked after!) or a CR in blackbut the right spec for £10200 150miles away... with a similar mileage...

Anyone got any opinions on either???

Perks

Oh dear i thinki I'm becoming a skodaholic...

Hi and welcome

Isnt the 2.0 model common rail?? Thought all 1.9 tdi s from 2001 were the pd engines and the 2.0 tdi that was introduced in 2004 was the CR version.

Think its personal preference tbh . I personally prefer the pds and imo consider them stronger and more tunable.

Hello and welcome, I've got the PD version and love it. Are you aware of the potential issues with the DPF on the PD enignes. The CR suffer a lot less with them as they are more designed to work with a DPF. If it's going to live in a town all it's life expect problems, needs to have regular runs to keep it right, or if the exhaust light comes on a trip of over 40mph for at least 10 - 15 mins to clear it.

Cheers guys... bought a 08 Octavia PD VRS Estate in the end and well happy I did!!! It's just as good as I remembered (my last one got written off when a Picasso driver decided my side of the road looked better than his!) and this one has already been remapped by Angel tuning and it's an animal!!!!

Question. Im not up on the 2.0 tdi vw lumps tbh but can someone tell me? Do they do two types of engine in the 2.0 tdi ? A cr version and a pd version? I know that all 1.9 tdi from 2001 are a pd.

Yes PD and a CR vesion. The PD from introduction of the 2.0 and then CR from facelift. I'm sure someone will be along to correct that if it's wrong.

Is that the same in the golf mk5 then? Early 04s?

You can get a Pre- facelift with the CR Lump, early 09 plates I think

Pre-DPF PD all the way! :)
