Looking for an Octavia 2.0T FSI VRS

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I am a potential owner of a 2007/2008/2009 Octavia 2.0T FSI VRS hatch. I've looked at a number of cars and noticed a musty smell in the boot. On one car, the spare wheel well had water in it.

Is there an issue with water getting into the boot, or are these unusual Octavias?

Thanks for your feedback

Cheers

Jeff

Hi mate & welcome along.

Rainwater will run into the boot every single time (if it's raining of course....!!) you open the hatch & it is a flippin nuisance. This could well be the cause of the wet.

The estate is not so bad though.

If there are more technical reasons for the issue you have described I am sure someone will be along to explain this.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Thanks guys,

I appreciate the welcome.

Before I read your answer I found a 59plate 2.0T FSI manual hatch and put a deposit on it. Seems to be a straight motor, so can't wait to take delivery. Guess I'll just have to find a buyer for my old Primera GT now :-)

Cheers

Jeff

I heard that the rear wash wipe fluid pipe or connections were/are prone to failure which results in fluid ending up in the boot or more likely in the (empty) spare wheel well...worth checking and monitoring I'd say..

I open my hatch in stages, open slightly, let the rain run off slowly, then open fully, my boot carpet has NEVER got wet and it is 6 years old. Hi and welcome by the way

Welcome! :)

Another option to help avoid rainwater infested boot carpet is to get a boot tray...these are great as they catch any dirt or water that find their way into the boot and prevents them from soaking into the carpet.
