remaps and traction control

Featured Replies

just a random one really but i just wondered how good peoples stock traction control is with remaps? mines ok at stock boost but if i turn it up then its like it just doesnt attempt at keeping the wheels under control.

you have asr not traction control ( unless it was an optinal extra on the vrs ?)

big big difference

asr will kill you not help you lol imo its the first switch to be turned off when i get in the car as it shut the power off when wheel spin is detected

my bad. i did some searches when i first got the car and most said traction control, although i didnt read into them.

yeah it cuts the power fine but when boost is turned up i can spin it in 1 2 3 and it just doesnt bother trying to kit the power. was curious why really, not that i want it too, its pretty pants lol!

it should cut power when car wheel spins for x amount of time

imo just turn it off its crap and imo pointless

Roger that

It is flippin' annoying, especially in the wet.

I leave it on for normal driving (wife/baby in car) unless it's wet/damp then I tend to turn it off as it just annoys me!

same as above.. i get in, start the car, belt on, ASR off tunes on, and im off!

ASR is never on in mine drives me crazy !

Same here I just turn it off, LSD coming within the year hopefully.

In fact i love my combination of ASR and EDL when going hard on turns ..i like EDL its useful

Useful stuff in here: http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/technology/glossary/traction-control

ASR uses two different methods of traction control, depending upon vehicle speed. Under 25mph is pulses the brake calliper at the slipping wheel (EDL), then over 25mph it takes advantage of the electronic throttle and backs off the power to reduce slip.

I turn mine off if I'm doing some hard launches, but other than that it always stays on. If you find it's kicking in the whole time then maybe you need some better tyres!
