My mum has a 10 plate VRS , on a couple of occasions the central locking has failed to respond to the key and has taken a few cycles to operate , yesterday the car wouldnt unlock itself and when unlocked with the key it started but she had no headlights, wipers, central locking and had a huge range of warning lights on.

Skoda assist were called out and they found dozens of fault codes on the car , they cleared them and the car started fine and everything works , they couldnt tell her why the fault had happened in the first place

Any ideas , has this happened to anyone else ???

Yep I've had this...just Used the key, came back in the morn and all was ok. Happened twice now.

Could be static?! Not had all the warning issues just the locks.

Battery is fine, car is not a year old yet not even had its first service so it must be an 11 plate . Its not an issue with the key fob either but some kind of electrical gremlin , a friend has similar on her Touran and it was the ECU

As i said the car started fine , but a number of the systems on the car wouldnt work

I believe its something to do with the central locking system.

Boot locks are also a common failure.

Got a similar problem but not as yet not had any luck with the garage it works as it should apparently.

I have found on mine that the key fob will not always unlock or lock the car on the first attempt. Worst time was in a car park when I eventually just had to lock it with the key! Not had that since and put it down to interference from somewhere.

Not had any of the other symptoms you have mentioned and I know it didn't have any logged faults the other weekend as had VCDS hooked up.

modern batteries though give these syptoms, when they are on the way out, they will still start the car fine! but central locking, warning lights, dash not working ect ect are all symptoms... just because it a year old doesn't matter... could have been used for short journeys, could simply be a faulty battery, I would get it checked out by a specialist!

I had the same issues on a mondeo. Had the battery tested, alternator ok. Everything on paper said the battery was ok. I changed the battery and had no trouble with it at all. Like others have said could be a duff battery possibly a faulty cell

Just because a battery can turn the engine over means nothing; my father had a problem with his Citroen Xantia; it would rarely turn the imobiliser off unless he'd left it on trickle charge overnight, yet every time it would spin the engine over very easily. Changed the battery and it all started working fine again..

I had something similar the other day on our Monte, went to lock it with the fob and nothing happened.

Locked it with the key, 10 mins later it was ok using the fob.

It doesn't only happen on French cars though...

i had the exact same issue. After running a scan with VCDS it came back with a central convenience fault code. This was cleared and it was ok for sometime. I went on holiday about a month ago and left the car for 2 weeks. upon return the car was dead. Skoda assist called out and they left jump leads connected for 10 minutes prior to checking my battery only to discover the battery was faulty. The battery is under 10 months old. New battery fitted no faults since.

If you read my first post at no point has the car been dead , the car starts fine , IF you can get into to the thing and when its started and running you get random electrical system failures

I have "invested" in VCDS so i will plug it in but i'm expecting a serious of fault codes none of which may actually point to the cause but rather be a result of it
