Fuel tank replacement

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

Wondering if I could get some advice/opinions on my problem.

My car (Fabia VRS) has a large hole right in the bottom of the fuel tank. I don't know what caused it, probabaly some surface debris I ran over (It's stupidly low...)

Does anyone a) Know of any temp repairs? Just so I can get to a garage without wasting tons of fuel)

and B) know the cost of replacement (Parts/labour)?

Car is currently sitting at work, over a drain which is now full of my sweet sweet diesel :(

Appreciated

A drain linked into our water supply? oh no! eeek my water all of a sudden tastes funny! haha.

On a serious note you tried some of that instant repair putty that you just mould with your hands? you get it from DIY places? might be worth a shot

Haha it's a drain at a swimming pool, much worse goes down I can assure you!

I\m gonna jack it up tomorrow morn and see what the hole is like. If it's small I could use some putty I suppose?

What labour is involved in replacing it? Is it a bugger?

Don't use 'Plumbers Mate' it's useless, Use 'Milliput' it even sets under water. Been using it for 20 years now and it's never let me down yet.

OK I'll check that out. Would somewhere like homebase sell that?

Any decent model shop will sell it. Also Amazon.co.uk

Sorry but this is probably one of those times you're better off having the car recovered, you dumping diesel over the roads is the last thing anyone needs.

It's back home now. Most of it is down a drain.

Milliput is ordered. I'll report back, thanks for the suggestion
