Afternoon all, well managed to limp home from France with a slipping clutch.

Has anyone had one done recently so I know what a clutch is gonna cost me.. I have an 05 Fab VRS..

Pah, cars. If it ain't one thing it's another.. Thankfully this cars one of the reliable ones.. It's been a cracker until a couple of full bore starts on the motorways in France. But at least we got home...

Also can anyone recommend anyone in the Edinburgh area.?

Clutch and flywheel can be had for around £375 I think then you're looking at 3-5hours labour charge depending who does it mate.

Ah cheers. I remember the old days when it was a clutch kit, why oh why do wee need to change flywheels too.. It's just more expense.

You don't 'have' to change your flywheel but with the way dual masses are its worthwhile doing while the box is off, especially if yours has covered some miles and abuse over the years!

Well all I can now say is 2500 miles ago since the clutch slipped, well when the wife RODE the clutch away from the M6 toll, its still biting and hasn't shown any issues since the day we left for hols.. That's the last time she gets to drive.. And now 1500 miles around France and another 1000 since we got home in June, well in the hands of its new owner.. I'm sure the wee ball of fire will prove a wee cracker for the new owner.. There was nearly a tear when I handed the keys over.. The Fabbie VRs is such an impressive car, I had ma doubts when I bought one but I now realise why folk want one even ones with big miles.. Our one had 100k but was still as tight as a snare drum.
