will it harm the paint?

Don't think so, tar remover also works well!

No i used WD40 on mine, also used wite spirit on previous cars and its done no harm!

No it is quite safe.

There are lot's of 'specialist' cleaners that will do the job as well, but most people into cars have some WD40 lying around.

typical, dont even have any wd40 :(

Try a hair dryer to soften the tape and then some polish then.

Not as easy but if you have it give it a go - you will probably need to give the tailgate a polish anyway as the paint under the badge will be better than the rest of it, so it will leave an outline of where the badge was.

AG tar remover is also pretty good if you have any?
