Leather seats - bad production batch?

Featured Replies

After getting my Superb back from service I noticed a small damage on the leather in driver's seat. The head of the workshop said it was a production error (not sure if that's correct English), and the seat needed reupholstering.

Anyone else had problems with their seats? Here's an image of mine: post-77740-13394506086722_thumb.jpg

Hard to see it that photograph (I inlarged the picture up 400%) though my question is. Was the damage there before it went in? If not. How dd it happen?

Having said that I did see a damaged drivers seatside cushion where the stitching had given way (it is designed to give way due to the airbag) and it had just come off the transport lorry!

As above, what is the damage? Can see some marks but no obvious damage.

I'll try with higher resolution (top section of side cushion, brighter area):post-77740-13394881499541_thumb.jpg

It seems as if the top coating of the leather has simply been peeled away, like you would see on an old bean bag chair. The guy at the service center said that the side cushions were made from a different type of material from the seat cushions. I suppose that means "fake" leather, but he said they should be a lot more durable than this, and it was probably faulty from factory.

One of the advantages of the ivory leather. Damages are less visible.

Except the ones that require cleaning lots of cleaning. :giggle:

The only bit of leather you get is the bit your As5e and back touch

How do you think decides the color of the leather about the amount of dirt? Or is your dirt only the one you can see? Is that the reason for your dark underwear as well?
