Favorite instrument voltage stabiliser

Featured Replies

Can someone please tell me where the instrument voltage stabiliser is on a Favorite? Have looked on the printed circuit board. Fault is fuel gauge reads full all the time and low level lamp is lit all the time (with ignition on of course)

even if the plug from the sender is removed, suspect a wiring error but Haynes has different colour wires and different pin numbers to my 1995 car even though the Haynes is supposed to cover this model.

Thanks for any help

big k may be able to help you when he is next logged in.

voltage stabiliser in on pcb (on the right) it looks like you have either faulty gauge or pcb.

Thanks for replying no sign of anything on the PCB no sub units or diodes. Tried to get wiring/plug info to the PCB from Skoda very nice person assisted but do not have a drawing and the Haynes shows only wiring from what I take to be for an earlier model possibly pre injection. The colours and ptn numbers are nothing like my 95 car. I will have to buy whole instrument panel from breakers I guess, that way will get guage and PCB.

Thanks again.

Cant help but suggest you look closely at the pin / track connections to the pcb from what I remember they were never soldered that well. I remember on mine having strange problems caused by lots of poor connections on the fuse/relay board although I think the later ones were much improved.

Solved by changing instrument panel, in case it is ever any help in future - I found the instrument circuit for this car, 1995 injection Favorit, is as in the FELICIA Haynes & NOT at all like the Favorit Haynes of the correct year. Unfortunately the pin/colours are not the same but at least the circuit drawings themselves are. For example the Fuel Low Level components are all on the printed circuit board and not as the Favorit Haynes where its still shown as a switch in the tank sender unit. In practice for my car the four wires from the sender are, one earth wire to PCB fuel circuit, one yellow wire from sender to fuel circuit and two wires for the fuel pump.

Good to hear that it is now sorted. Did it cost much to fix?
