Superb Greenline Fuel ecconomy experiement: 2

Featured Replies

I had to drive to Birmingham today and when I got up there I brimmed the tank (about £24), went to the station, queued through traffic and drove to the site and a meeting. I then drove back to the station and dropped my colleague off, through some traffic, joined the motorway and started the journey back. As I was in no particular hurry I stuck to about 60-70mph and tried to get the range up as high as I could. In the end I managed this, after travelling 131 miles

It means a combined range of 1,111 miles. However, I find that when I fill the tank I can never get close to 60 litres in it, so its likely that the range would be even higher than that.

I stopped at a petrol station just after this picture was taken so I could top up the tank and get the range to show over 1,000 miles. I could only get 4.5 litres in and the range didn't move when I got in the car. I have found that with a courtesy Octavia as well that I put £5 of fuel into. It seems small amounts don't immediatly register on the fuel gauge.
