Anyone got dvd players built into your Octavia's headrests?

Featured Replies

Hey All,

Currently I've got some in-car DVD players strapped to the front seat headrest's to keep the kids happy. Although they work fine I'm not that keen on the hanging wires etc

I've been looking at systems built into the headrest and they look pretty good but not sure how they'll look in the Ocatavia.

Anyone got any? what's your experience? Any pics?

I have a cheapie "next base" once on a stanchion mount (fits securely to the headrest poles) on one side and we have an Ipad in a soft case that hooks on the other.

I looked at built in screens but they were a bunch of money to have done profesionally. IIRC there was someone who'd posted on here who'd hacked up his own headrests to fit some screens, but you then end up with something that's not reversible and you have to wire these into some sort of player hidden somewhere in the car.

The nexbase screen was only about 100 quid so it was a no brainer really. The power lead has some magnets on it so it is pretty easy to hide it under the seat - having the stanchion mount fitted means you plug the power lead into the mount rather than the screen, so the wires are quite neat.

Looks neater than mine strapped to the headrest

I've been looking at this range of players: http://www.xtrons.co.uk/HEADREST-car-dvd.Html

P.S. I see your front seat suffers from the kids feet marks too!

Has anyone installed a dvd player in the headrests? i cant work out how you can get to the wires once you pass them through the holes of head rest. I cant find a gap in the base of seat to put my hand in to pull the wires through. Can it be done or not. any help would be appreciated

Hoping to do this soon myself. I've fitted some to my other car so hoping it will go as smoothly. Ideally want to use some spare VRS headrests rather than cut mine but I doubt they are readily available

If no-one is interested in the cloth interior I took out of the estate when I upgraded to leather, it will be binned rather than transport it with everything else on the upcoming house move. if it does end up getting binned, would the headrests be any use to you as a project? They are in the onyx cloth Elegance trim.

Are they the same shape as the VRS ones ? because a final retrim of the cloth at the end isn't an issue. Cheers for the offer
