VRS Slow Starting

Featured Replies

Hi,

My girlfriends VRS takes up to 5 seconds of cranking to start, all the glowplugs have been replaced. A fault code 17058 was found using a basic scanner. The problem occurs if the car is hot or cold. The problem popped up around the time the Cambelt was changed, I have been told the timing can be adjusted using Vag Com. The car drives fine but it's annoying it doesn't start as it used to. Any ideas will be much appreciated. Thanks...

This code points to a fault with number 4 glow plug. Suggest that you check the wiring, connection to the glow pug and the glow plug itself. Best to use a multimeter. With the meter set to DC volts check there is voltage at the glow plug when the ignition is first switched on. With the meter set to resistance check the reading beteen the centre comnnector of the plug and a good earth.

They might have put it back together 1 tooth out on the belt maybe? Happened to me once, took an age to start but ran ok.
