Piston rewind tool

Featured Replies

HI all,

Just wondering if anyone local (Chester le street) has a piston reset tool I could potentially borrow?

Tried a quick release G clamp today but still no luck. Starting to think the piston may have seized :(

Failing that... would a normal twist G clamp be more suitable?

cheers.

Front or rears? Front will push in, rears are on a thread and need winding back in.

Ahhh that would explain it. It's the rears. Is there any other way than using a tool?

you could try a pair of circlip pliers and push in at the same time as rewinding, but it is very difficult, I know from experiance! I ended up having to go and get something like this http://www.machinema...per rewind tool from Mahine Mart. Saved a lot of aggro and hassle and well worth it. They may have the cheaper one in store that I got ~12 quid IIRC but I couldn't find it online.

Nice one. Just ordered something similar on the web a minute ago. Think I'll wait until that arrives and try again.

And on the plus side ... My calliper may not be seized after all :D

I've only ever done it once without a tool and used the tool from an angle grinder that you tighten the collar up after putting the discs on. It seemed to do the job.
