Time to wait for an Octavia...

Featured Replies

Evening All,

First post here, so please be nice :D

I am an Operations Manager for a Software Company, so job involves a lot of driving. At the moment, I have a BMW 320d which is my company car but I am opting into a cash for car allowance scheme, so I am getting X amount of money each month + 45p per mile for first 10,000 miles and 25p thereaf

I will be covering 25 - 30,000 miles a year so I have received a quote on a 35k a year Personal Contract Hire plan for the Octavia. I have been told I am looking at 10 - 12 weeks waiting list for a new Octavia DSG.

What are you experiences, is that about right?

Cheers

Ordered mine 6 weeks ago. Being built next week and then 3 weeks to the dealer after that.

Mine is a petrol estate with DSG.

Ordered 15 weeks ago and might be built in 2 weeks!

That's quite a while to wait.

Should have mentioned I am wanting a 2.0 TDI 170 CR vRS

Not 100% decided yet...

Ordered mine last weekend (Petrol VRS with DSG and extra 'toys') and I was told 1st / 2nd week in September for delivery. To me this works out perfectly as I would want to collect before the plate change.

The dealer confirmed that there is a 12 - 13 week lead time. Another Dealer quoted 'at least 6 months for anything with DSG' but I think they were talking out of their ar$3 and just wanted to try and flog there existing stock.

3 to 6 months is about the going rate. Each car is built to order, so there are no fields of cars laying around in the UK waiting to be sold.

Do we know of any plans for VAG to churn out more DSG's to meet demand? Surely such long built times can't be good for business.

Ordered my 1.8 tsi dsg l&K model on 31st March 2012 and was quoted 12 week delay. I expect car to be delivered 3rd week of July or so according to latest info.So thats about 15 weeks.

What none of us know is how individual variations affect timescale e.g diesel v petrol, SE, Elegance or L&K, manual or DSG., estate or hatch.

Just a word of warning. As recorded extensively elsewhere in the Forum, the choice of Octavia models has now been restricted in the run up to Octavia Mark 3. If in doubt look at the Skoda web site build comparator to see just what you can get.

2.0TFSI DSG Estate ordered 27th May, build slot 2nd July.

Update: Been told its being built this week after me chasing again, But then ive been told 4-5 weeks for delivery! What are they doing, pushing it over? Ive been without a car now for 5 weeks and total wait looks to be 20 weeks from my order

Seven months for mine, but worth it.

Did your dealer give you anything as a sweetener?

I have been told up to 3 weeks delivery to Hertfordshire. Car was built last Thursday. Don't know why yours would take 2 weeks longer.

One factor not mentioned in this thread is that although delivery time might be 12 weeks (typical) for a factory order this can sometimes be improved depending on the Dealer you are talking to. Some car Dealers regularly order cars "for stock" on the basis that within the 12 week delivery period they will take a customer order for the same type of car and amend their order to the customer requirements. Obviously the closer they are to the build date then the harder it is to change things.

So, Dealer orders vRS petrol/DSG with a few options. Four weeks later you walk through the door and he amends it to your colour choice etc and hey presto your new car arrives in 8 weeks, not 12.

Hey, I'm just about to place an order for a CR DSG vRS and I've been told 6-8 months...

This will be agonising. :(. But worth it in the end..

Dont fancy that wait much, im getting mine on friday 20th July and waited 20 weeks which seemed long enough!

Mine was a fresh order and was about 7 weeks from order to delivery to me, that was a CR TDI DSG VRS.

Incidentally, if you just happen to want a white VRS DSG with leather, sunroof, black wheels, bluetooth, auto lights and heated seats then Murray in Newton Abbot have waiting to be sold as that was my original car which they ****ed up with order, ordering me leather as opposed to the black alcantara, so if you want like that, its ready to go!!!

My Octavia 1.8 tsi L&K with DSG (one of the last) was ordered on 31 March 2012, is currently on the City of Barcelona somewhere in the North Sea and will dock in the Tyne on Wednesday.

Should get it in the last few days of July - 17 weeks after order which is not too bad.

As I said before on this thread, none of us know what factors delay the production. One thing for sure if they are closing down production lines in Europe for the mark 2 Octavia, there will be a big lag in output for prized products above bog standard options eg DSG, sun roof, 4X4, estate etc etc.

Oh really??? Similar to my spec, but I've gone for the Xenons instead of sunroof, no black wheels and Race Blue... I would have seriously thought about this one, if 1. The wife didn't mind white, she absolutely hates it, I love it, but she is paying for the blue. 2. I've just paid my deposit. :) so it's great you've mentioned it, cheers!!!! But it's a no no for me :(

7 weeks!!!! Wow, if that happens for me then fantastic!!!

Rich when were you offered these choices?

When I ordered my PreFL vRS I got the choice of quite a few in UK ports, I just picked one that was closest to the spec I wanted and within 4 weeks I was in it.

Friday 13th last week was looking at a Octavia VRS TDI DSG Estate in Steel Grey. It has a spare wheel, acoustic rear parking sensors, 18” Black alloy wheels, Alcantara VRS trim, heated front seats and auto lights wipers and auto dimming rear view mirror just over £20k there were also two gunmetal ones as well but slightly lower spec

We orderd our monte carlo that had all ready been built, this was waiting at Emden to be shiped, this was 24th July and still sitting there, wonder for how much longer.

The car will be waiting its turn in a queue to get on the boat, there are not that many boats and your car will have to wait its turn along with all the other marques also waiting. This is where the biggest delay is after manufacture, getting the car across the water from euro land.

Yeah no what you mean, but when we orderd the octy from a new build it came to Emden and with in a matter of days it was on the boat and here, seams when they are just built they go to docks, then they are stocked up, but when it is sold it is in the middle of a lot of cars, think this is what happend,as you say it needs all the other cars around it to move first be fore it can come, but not going to be waiting for ever.
