Door handle help!

Featured Replies

Went to change me door handles to colour coded ones today and have cane across an issue, it wont go bk properly, its the bk drivers side and al the black bit to the left of the handle just falls out when pulled!

Any ideas?

Tighteing te torx screw does nothing!

I have this problem... Annoying isn't it!!

When you undid the torx screw you (we!!) undid it too much and something dropped out (or so I've been told!)

How to fix... I have no idea, can someone help?!?!?

if you've over tightened it, theres a part of the handle carrier which falls off, it shouldn't be broken but you'll have to get the door card off.

Surely someone has done this to help us out!!

I was going to paint my door handles but reading this has put me off until someone comes up with what I should and shouldn't do when removing them :)

Ie already got the new ones, plus ones already screwed up! Lost the wee bit of the handle that you dont pull as it fell off! Would have otherwise!

Just make sure you pull the door handle to the open position, to open the door obvs.. Then loosen the torx20 in the door.

What's happened here is that the locking ring will have dropped out of place.

You'll need to remove the door card, and inner 'membrane' and put the ring back on the inner part of the door handle mechanism.

Cheers Phil - is it the same on all 4 doors?

Cheers for the help! Will strip the door down tommorrow!!

I'm sure I had this problem ages ago. Is it the small bit of the handle that no matter how tight you do the torx screw it still just pulls out?

If it is then I seem to remember the backing comes away from the door and when you push the bit back in it doesn't locate correctly so doesn't tighten up. I'm sure I used some strands of electrical wire, I pulled them out of the plastic sheath of the wire and made a kinda u shape then looped it over the backing plate then pulled the backing plate towards the door then put the small plastic bit in and tightened it up. I also remember removing the black sprayed cover off it first so I could pull the wire out when the bit was in all the way. Then put the cover back on.
