Wheel Bearing replacement

Featured Replies

We have bought two new bearings and hubs for our 55 plate 1.2htp Ambiente. How difficult is it to replace these for a home mechanic? Does anyone have any tips or a link to a how to sheet?

front bearings - very difficult, even with a ten ton press

rear bearings - moderately easy for for a competent home mechanic, hub puller required, and grinder, as inner race will likely remain on shaft.

The hubs we have bought have the bearings already pressed in. So is it easy enough to replace the hubs?

if its the front and its all assembled with splines for drive shaft and its just a case of attaching everything then yes. if its rear hub, when you remove the old one, itll need a puller, and to gring off the inner race which will remain on the shaft.
