Low Pad Warning Light problem

Featured Replies

I have changed my discs and pads for drilled and grooved and high performance pads......... just cos. but the pads i ordered don t have the wear indicator wire.

Im not going to return them, and because of my alloys i can just look and see the pad wear. However because the plug is disconnected i have the warning light (big surprise), i would like to know how i can manipulate the plug, to turn it off?

Thanks again folks

Just short out the connector and tape it up.

excellent, blissfully simple. i have a good chunky jumper connecter, and a nice bit of duct tape. cheers

complete the circuit with a piece of wire just bare the ends off and insert the wire into the plug to replace the wear indicater wire and wrap some tap round it to keep the wire in thae cable tie it to the leg and the light will go out on the dash.

great, first job tomorrow then. The list of work done is now huge, car feels like new though, even with 174k

I thought when the pads were low it made what is theoretically a switch which brought the light on....

Obviously it works the other way :o

it would add an earth to the circuit i suppose, triggering the system?

A better (neater) way would be to cut off the sensor from your old pads, solder the wires together and plug it back in, this way you will also be keeping water out of the wiring loom.

There is an extremely thin ribbon of metal embedded in the brake friction material (effectively shorting out the two pins). As the ribbon is exposed, it is quicky worn through.

Ah tthus unshorting it as it were, for want of a more grammatically correct explanation
