intake mods (pd160 or similar) and "elephant" mod on 1.4 MPI

Featured Replies

ive seen many posts about the elephant mod/ catch can mod/ atmosphere vent mod, but ive never fully understood if this is just a mod that is to be done on VRS engines only, im extremely amateur when it comes to engine modding etc, i know the basics but not much else about them.

also i want to get a bigger air intake into the engine as mines rediculously tiny - i dont even think its a PD130 - so the 2 options i was thinking about were the PD160 intake or just making a custom intake that will force more air into the engine rather than just sort of being sucked in by the matchstick sized intake thats on it.

so my questions are:

can the elephant mod be done on a 1.4 MPI, does it make a difference and does anyone have photos on that particular engine?

and what would my options be other than a PD160?

if you need any more info just post and il try my best to answer :)

I vented mine to the air using the original hose and a bit of ingenuity, and blocking up the feed to the intake 'mushroom'.

As for the intake pipe... pd160 could be done (but you'll need a vrs airbox to do it as the entry at the bottom is different) or you can just get yourself a bit of pipe and DIY (which is what I did).

Your choice really. One route is dirt cheap to do, the other is expensive.
