Hi I would like to change my 17 inch wheels (255/45 R17 91W) for 16 inch (for ride comfort), has anyone got some 16 inch alloys for sale, which would fit and has anyone undertaken this change before and if so have they any comments.

Post some photo's up of your wheels, showing any damage and what make(s) the tyres are (including the tread depths) as people need to see what they will be swapping for.

I am considering selling my winter wheels - Audi A6 5 spokes fitted with almost new Nokian WRG2 205/55/16" winter tyres (amazing tyres that I WILL buy again)

FWIW the non Elegance Superb was fitted with 205/55/16" tyres, this will increase comfort due to the higher sidewalls.

Your speedo will probably be inaccurate afterwards, check the sizes in an online tyre calculator, if the overall of the 17 matches the overall of the 16 NP, but if not make sure you are aware how far out you are on the clock or it will be nee naaw nee naaw for you.

205/55/16 is pretty much spot on with 225/45/17 as I did it on my Octavia

I swapped my 16" Comfort wheels for the 17" Solid Wheels on the elegance. I saw no noticable difference in ride quality...and the car looks far better on the 17's!

I've just changed my 17's for 18's withhe no noticeable difference in comfort and the 18's look ace I went from 225/45r17 to 225/40r18. Very little change in circumference so not enough change in speed to worry about. Search the web for 'tyre calculator' and you'll find what you need. It doesn't work too well on a mobile phone though.....

205/55/16" is the OE size for a 16" tyre on the Superb (both MKI and MKII)

I’m a professional driver and work for a VW garage and get to drive just about everything you can imagine, I don’t use my own car for work purposes (Skoda Superb Elegance) but have noticed over the years the binger the wheels and the lower the profile the harder the ride so I am looking for some 16 inch Skoda Superb wheels and tyres because if I use something else I am concerned abut the offset and can be pretty sure that Superb wheels will fit properly.

ride certainly gets harder on a lower profile - but when I got my Superb I was very surprised with the comfort of the ride. I fully expected it to be a little harsh on 17s, but find it very comfy. Surprised you don't.

Not only more comfort with the 16" tyres but they are much cheaper to replace to - to my horror.
