How Far To Drop Her?

Featured Replies

Eibach springs would be a very worthy compromise - don't think it lowers it loads but just enough, and Eibach make excellent springs IMO, probably best compromise between cost/handling

Iirc eibach are crap on the octavia. Best do some searches mate as i think a few have tried them and found them really bad. Something to do with the weight on the rear end and the springs not being good enough?

Ok mate, this maybe isn't what you want to hear, but unlike everyone except you (and maybe Marko?) I've driven in Perthshire, in a mk1 Octy (Elegance TDi 110) and wouldn't lower it. The stock ground clearance is only 6", but looks more because of the big arch gaps (good in snow though).

If you want something a bit tauter save up for Koni FSDs.

Sorry maths was never my strong point here is the quote from Skoda

few lol, thought you were getting ripped off there mate.

That sounds not so bad but for £600 for just the stock shocks n springs you can get weitec coilovers and the OEM Bearings x2, Threaded Bush x2, Top Mounts x2, rear Bumpstops x2.

Have that at stock vRS hight and it will firm it up but not be too bouncy or harsh. you also have the coise of lowering it later if needs be but again you will compromise on ride big time the lower you go.

hence why a lot of people go coilovers. I wouldnt get anything cheaper than Weitecs tho personally.

Maybe even get some good second hand ones?

Well an update to this thread, i had a broken spring so i have just gone ahead and ordered the 35mm drop springs, most people are saying they are now what Jamex were before performance 3000 got em.

Reports and reviews indicate that they generally dont drop the full 35mm because of stock stuff being a bit saggy. So im likely to expect 20-25mm, i shall keep you updated as i will change rear tomorrow night just to see and then the more in depth front ones

Keep is posted mate

will do, bit of a risk on ride quality but i did speak to the company and one of theyre techys and it seems they have no complaints about running with standard shacks etc because its not a massive drop, and they only a bit firmer. Just care needed with fronts to make sure the spring is compressed until loose as these are under quite alot of pressure even off the car
