Set of 18" Zenith Alloys

Featured Replies

Hi gang,

Long story short: bought a spare set of alloys for my vRS from a member on here, intending to maybe get winter tyres for them, or have them refinished in a different colour, or both of those things. But in six months or so I've done nothing with them, my girlfriend is moving in with me soon and I think having a set of wheels piled up in the dining room is going to be difficult to justify, long term :giggle: so I've decided to move them on again. Just giving members on here a chance before I put them on the 'bay.

Obviously collection is preferred, and I have no intention of splitting the set. Tyres are all Continental Contisport, versions 2 or 3, but really only have a mm or so of tread left before the wear bars, so I wouldn't bank on getting much use out of them!

I paid a bit over the odds for them at the time, but I think £325 is a fair price now.

The link below *should* take you to a photobucket album with pictures of all wheels, cunningly number 1 to 4. If anyone wants more photos of a particular wheel, please ask.

Many thanks

Hi,

Are the wheels still for sale? As I am in Aberdeenshire I will obviously have to use a courier. I am awaiting a quote.

Apart from the visible scuffs can you confirm that there are no other defects and that non of the alloys are buckled/warped. Also from the photo's the paint/lacquer appears to be in very good condition (no peeling / bubbling). Can you confirm that this is the case?

Cheers

Hi Ian,

Yes the wheels are still for sale. Is there any info you need for the courier quote - I could try and weigh a wheel on the bathroom scales if that would help?

I haven't run the wheels on my car so I can't say for absolutely sure that they aren't warped, but there's nothing visible. I know that a couple of the balance weights have fallen off while I've been storing them, but I'm assuming you're budgeting for getting the tyres changed anyway?. The paint / lacquer on the wheels themselves is fine, I think one or two of the skoda badges on the plastic center caps may have started to lift round the edges which seems to have happened on every car I've ever had! I'll go through them again tomorrow evening and check the centre caps to be sure.

Thanks for getting in touch

Keith

Hi Keith,

No need to weigh the wheels - the quote (which I am still waiting form a couple of points to be clarified) is via ebay and is for 4 x alloy wheels. All the courier quotes I have seen stipulate that for pick-up once a date is requested the pick-up time by the courier could be anytime on that date between 8am and 5:30pm. Would that be a problem? (As it's a 24 hour service I would imagine that pick-up would generally be in the morning to enable delivery to the destination address next working day). Apart from that all they ask are that the wheels are packaged individually (so that they are not too heavy for the courier to lift) and well to avoid damage in transit.

Once I confirm the quote we could discuss payment, address details etc via PM.

Cheers

Hi Ian,

I think the best idea from my point of view would be to have the courier collect the wheels from my workplace: there are people on site from 6:30am to 5pm, and I'll obviously stay the extra half hour if need be. Doing it that way makes sure that there will definitely be someone around to meet the courier, plus there's always loads of cardboard lying around that I can use to pack them with!

Cheers

Keith
