Insurance rates are post code based - Chance of a claim are much great in a run down area than they are in a remote rural area.

Very true this, my mate who lives 15 miles away is in exactly the same si****ion as me and is getting £600+ more on the quotes in comparison to me! :wonder:

  • 2 weeks later...

hey, im looking at getting this same car, on a 54 plate, the 1.9tdi model, standard bar the alloys on it, they are bog standard skoda alloys however, but ive not got any NCB and I havent passed yet but for the purpose of the quote I am saying I have just passed my test. do you think I will get the same kind of quote? also, what did you put down for employment etc? im doing A levels at sixth form so I am unsure what to put... also I have the option to use both parents as named drivers who have 30 years each of driving with no convictions and just 1 accident between them.

I live in whitehaven, cumbria, what should I expect for a quote? this would be my first car.

Cheers!

ste

Edit also I will be 18 when i get insurance (18 in 4 weeks) cheers

Ste, read my previous post in this thread for the main tips. Your employment status is full-time education or full-time student. No one here will be able to guess what sort of quote you will get, there are far too many variables involved, but try messing around with the voluntary excess and putting different named drivers on (they don't have to be related or intend to drive your car, you just need their permission to pop them on your insurance. I'd steer clear of anyone with an accident in the last 5 years though, regardless of blame, but can't hurt to try it in a quote and see what it does).

Don't lie to get your insurance down though, no matter how tempting it is, because it can end very badly if you need to claim. I rekon you'll be quoted at least 3 grand for fully comp on a Fabia TDI.

okey dokey, was looking at the 2.5k mark for insurance, but just had my attention caught by the audi a4 - you can pick up an x reg for about a grand, if the insurance is the same as a fabia with the same engine, id get that, cos i love the look of the a4. i emailed em for a qoute but currently my mum and dad are on admiral multi car so i will also give them a bell and have a play around on quotes for the fabia vrs, octavia tdi and the audi a4 tdi, because these are my faves at the moment. thanks!

I just dont understand how you are being asked to pay so much for insurance i was 20, 4 years ago so 2008, i was driving a highly modified 2006 hyundai coupe 2L 16v, engine fiddled with, lowered, alloys, full sound system, dvd player PS2, bodykit, the usual stuff really, i was insured in my own name on my car, 4 points, no one else on the policy and was paying £750 fully comp........

That's probably down to where you live more than anything.

at the time i lived on the mainland in Invergordon, just north of inverness, car parked on the street....just seems crazy, now that i live on the island its even cheaper hehehe

Just got an insurance quote on a Fabia vRS with declared new set of wheels, splitter and a re-map for £1400!

At 18 with a years no claims can't complain at all, now just to find one!

Thats a cracking price!
