Needing advice

Featured Replies

Hey there.

A friend suggested this site to find information, so I thought I'd post a question.

Basically I'm looking at getting an Octy (boot size is a primary concern), but have had a duff one before (lightning doesn't strike twice? or once bitten twice shy?). Previous model was a 53 plate 1.9TDi L+K estate. Don't know if it was the 130 or not. The gearbox got chewed up at about 115k. I probably should have got it fixed, but I didn't. More fool me.

I've now got a Pug 306 estate, but have to replace it soon. I was thinking about another Octy, but maybe a hatch this time (sounds like the boot is almost as big as the estate). I was wondering if there were any I should avoid (I've heard the 2.0 TDi PD might be a bit dodgy), or particular models which would be worth a look? I've been thinking about another 1.9 TDi, or maybe a 1.8 TSI? I'm definitely wanting a decent MPG, and can't really afford the insurance on a VRS.

I'm also on a budget of about 5k give or take, so am looking at maybe an 07/08 model? Any advice welcomed.

It sounds like you were just unlucky last time......... these are very reliable cars generally.

So your 5k will get you a nice TDi .... I wouldn't be put off a 2.0TDi as long as it's fully serviced and had all service bulletins done.

Hi and welcome aboard.
