help i think my vrs is dying

Featured Replies

I have troubling news, there is something wrong with my car, it seems like it loses power on and off like a switch, its hard to explain its like it miss fires about 100000times a second. It will drive fine for a bit then it feels like it isnt getting enough fuel or air, if i start to accelarate it is fine but as i put the foot down (half way) it starts it's **** (not all the time) then if i plant the foot is goes like stink and is fine, i remember my scooby done the same but that was just because it had sat for 3 months and all the **** had settled in the tank and it sucked it up and blocked the fuel filter.

It will boost to 19psi but when it starts to f**k up it drops up n down really fast.

Im totaly stuck on what to do, i have already replaced the MAF and replaced the air filter, disconnected the batt (to delete the fault codes if any), tried an old school boost leak checker (block the maf and start it and listen for air leaks) but the car started fine and i couldnt find any leaks.

PLEASE HELP?????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????????????

Thanks in advance Marko

When does this happen? Would you say it is like a surging? Might be the N75 or coil packs, sparks?

Checked for any codes?

it happens on and off but at least 5 times during the commute, the opposite of a surge power then no power (it feels like i have pushed the brakes) what is the N75, it is booked into skoda to get the coils replaced, if it were the sparks it would do it all the time would it not?

marko

Sounds very coil pack esque to me or leads/plugs

its booked in to skoda for the recall on the coils so only time will tell.

marko

yup needs a scan in the first instance, recon could be coilpacks from what you are saying though

has it had the recall work done?

thatd be really quick, he only just booked it in :giggle:

Just got the car back from Skoda, Still missing slightly.

Hoping a good service and a swap back to the OE airbox/DV set up should sort it.

well it is good news if car runs ok then bad, as basically if car was dying it would not improve and go back to bad it would just get worse.

So to me the issue is intermittant and thus repairable. Sounds like you are getting to the bottom of it now and a good service / plugs / air filter / fuel filter / coil pack etc would fix it...

mine does this time to time. Level throttle gives a stuttes and a loss of boost however if i boot it it boosts up fine and goes like stink. im looking at the N75 change to see if that helps and of course a fault code read first

Check the return pipe from turbo to n75 valve I've had some rubber debris in mine. Also could be fuel pressure regulator starting to fail. I've also had the n75 wires broken.

Marko if it is not your coil packs then I am afraid that sounds like a fuel pump to me. When you are on 3rd and 3000rpm steady, then floor it, does it accelerate, then cuts off, then tries to get back on etc? If in the higher gears that gets worse then is your fuel pump. I hope I am wrong because it is a bit costy to change

thats not bad at all, the original one complete costs well over £100?

I hope you are wrong, but thanks for the info lol

once Gee-man Stops sending himself my goods ( sorry Gee had to say something lol) i will get it all fitted with a good serves and if it is still happening then i will cry and then order a new fuel pump and put it in to a "garage" to get the fuel system flushed and the jets all cleaned up good style.

I will keep you all updated,

Marko

My Traction control light flashes like mad wen it happens, so that make me think loss of power + car trying to go into limp mode = spark plug related (or fuel related!).

Marko

you made it very complicated now. That could be even your N75 or the maf sensor(not the actual sensor itself but its voltage or connection or something like this)...

what I would do if I were you is find a friend of yours with the same car that has no problems at all(another Briskodian near by?), get his ignition coils, N75, Maf sensor, put them on yours, drive away, if it does the same thing with these parts then is most likely your fuel pump. If it runs perfect then you know is one of these 3 that the problem is. Then put back your ignition coils, have a go, if it is ok, then put your N75, have a go, if thats ok, then put your MAF sensor on... you got the idea. During all these I would have VAG COM plugged in and measure the corresponding blocks.

if it is a spark plug you are one very unlucky person. You dont get any white smoke or anything, do you?

no white smoke (my head gasket is A OK), iv put a new MAF on it and it made it better then the coil packs got dun better still now im going to serves it and put the std D/V and air box on and get some new pipes etc and clean out my SMIC + pipes, what is my N75 (not clued up on the AUQ engines 100% yet)?

My bay looks like this ATM (5hit i no)

hahahaha ya git! Blame postman pat for reading the mega small "return to" address over the big bold letters! lol

Are you sure its not going into limp mode?
